Bottle Cap Hair Clips

Yep, I haven't played with my caps lately but I got this really cool craft tool and it's made it a lot more fun. The Xyron Sticker Maker, (find out more here)
Xyron XRN510 Creative Station Multi-Use Crafting Machine with Permanent-Adhesive Cartridge

I love this thing, it makes anything you can roll through it, paper, ribbon, fabric, into a sticker, (permanent and removable), magnet and it even laminates. There are various sizes but mine is the 5 inch and it's plenty big enough for me.

Anyways I grabbed my supplies:

1" Flattened Bottle Cap
1" Circle Epoxy Stickers
Bottle Cap Punch 1 Inch
Glue ( I ended up using super glue the stuff pictured was no good, hot glue would also work)
Hair Pins

I made the caps just the same as my bottle cap advent except instead of gluing I ran the images through the sticker maker and and just punched out what I needed. This actually means when the mood strikes, I can grab the left over ones and whip up something in no time! Then once the bottle cap was made I stuck it on the the pin. 

DIY Delight or Disaster? Delight, cute and done in a matter of minutes...not including drying time. The only undelightful this about this was my model was feeling a little diva-ish and refused to put them in her hair, she wanted ribbons today.

Sweet & Salty Bark.....Aka A Party In Your Mouth!!!

Howdy all,

I'm not a food blogger, I never will be, mainly because I don't like to cook and my way of "plating" a meal is to slop it in and yell "Grubs Up" which means Dinner is served. I'm not sure if that is Australian or universal but that's my way. Luckily for the rest of the family Julian loves cook and takes great care and pride with his dishes. I do love to make sweet treats for the kids from time to time and when I saw Mary from Sweet Little Bluebird post her Sweet and Salty bark I knew I had to try it.

But being on the south side of the hemisphere and the metric system, ingredients are a little different as are weights and measurements, so with the permission of Mary, I have reworked it for what I used.

Sweet and Salty Bark

For the Base

• 1/2 a pkt Salada Biscuits (about half a packet but use whatever fits your tin, I used a lamington tin)
• 3/4 cup Brown Sugar
• 200 gr of Butter
• 1 tsp of Vanilla Essence
• 375gr Packet of White Chocolate buttons

Topping

• 1/2 a cup of crushed Pretzels
• 1 pkt of mini M&M's
• 1/2 tsp of Sea Salt

Pre heat oven to 180 Celsius 

Line a Lamington tin with foil and spray with cooking spray

Spread the Saladas to cover the tray

Place the brown sugar and butter in a pan on medium and bring to the boil, stirring constantly for about 3 minutes

Take it off the heat and add the vanilla essence and pour over the top of the Saladas

Bake for 10 minutes

As soon as it's out of the oven, place the white chocolate buttons on top and spread out as they melt.

While the chocolate is still soft, add the toppings.

Then set in the fridge for about 20-30 minutes or until hard.

Cut into small squares and wonder why this hasn't been in your life till now!!!!

She ain't pretty but she's might tasty, I wish I had have snapped a photo Max with toffee running down his chin as he clapped while he ate it...disgusting, funny and priceless! Also don't forget to go over to Sweet Little Bluebird and see Mary's other topping ideas here

Gamer water bottles - Repost

Morning all,

This is one of my very first posts, but with many of you celebrating Father's Day and it being warmer in those areas I thought I would re share it as a gift idea.

Today I shipped my first born baby off to a foreign country. It actually hit me harder than I thought it would, I was feeling sick once he walked through the departure gate.

He on the other hand used my fears to guilt me into making him something.

If you happen to spend any significant time with younger teenage boys, you'll know that they really only have two things on their mind, Xbox and food. The latest must have game for my boys is Skyrim.

 A few weeks ago I made the babies and Elizabeth blankets and Samuel says to me, "So if you're not girly, little or cute, no one wants to make stuff for you." It was in the morning before school and my reply was along the lines of "Just get ready, we need to leave".

Then I got to thinking, the he's right, since the boys started high school, I rarely make them anything at all, and I have an attack of the mother guilt. 

Gauntlet thrown and I picked it up - like a boss! 

So today I was at the supermarket and as I was leaving they had these two water bottle at the register marked down. Thus the Skyrim water bottle was born!

Supplies:

Water Bottle

Vinyl

Cutting machine

I googled the Skyrim logo, and got the PDF here, if your interested in Skyrim you have to check out what they used the image to make it's AMAZING. You have to see it to believe it!

First I re sized and cut it on my machine, then transferred, how easy is that!

So when the boys got home from school, I asked them to close their eyes and hold out their hands, like I used to do with them when they were little, they obviously gave me the eye roll for being such a dork, and  I placed them in their hands.

When they opened their eyes, Samuel says "Oh wow that's mad", which I translated to, he liked it and I got an "awesome" from Jack. This kind of response is huge, when they got to high school they forgot how to speak.
These days all they seem to do is mumble and it drives me CRAZY!

I truly hope they like them, because this is as close as they're getting to me paying for the actual Xbox game.

A delight, simple, easy and cheap.

Are your kids (or husbands) gamers? Do you have a roster or rules associated with time limits or days they can play?

 Personally I find them annoying, but then I'm a Mum that's my job.
