In my desperation to do something in the heat, that wasn't going to have me leaving me in pools of sweat I thought I'd try my hand at a few of those fun crafts that include lots of drying time.
So you know all those pendants made from washers? I'm kind of obsessed with them. Nat over at Northshore Days inspired me to make some.
Instead of using paper I decided I needed to use glitter because I have an addiction. Not sure if its the sparkles or how attractive my husband looks as he desperately tries to vacuum up the stuff that seems to sprinkle from me wherever I roam. He really loves glitter (I also may be lying)
Supplies:
- Washer
- Mod Podge
- Fine Glitter, Amethyst
- Mod Podge Dimensional Magic
- Pendant Bail
- Necklace
- Superglue
Coat the washer with modpodge and smother it in glitter, and allow to dry and shake off the excess.
Very carefully apply the dimensional magic and allow to dry - it will dry clear even though it looks cloudy
Glue the bail on and put it on the necklace.
DIY Delight or Disaster? Oh please it's glitter! Delight. Move over bottle caps, Melly has a new love - and needs to slap herself for referring to herself in the third person and calling herself Melly.
Thanks for reading my heat induced ramblings.
Mel xo
I love how that turned out!
ReplyDeleteThat turned out beautiful !!! YOUR so good at what you do sister.. I love your blog. I always leave here very happy !!!!
ReplyDeleteMel, you must have the biggest jewelry box to keep all your beautiful homemade treasures. Who would have guessed that started as a plain washer. Beautifully done.
ReplyDeleteI want to hear from Julian about how much he likes glitter. Guest post!
ReplyDeleteThat's a lovely color, Mel! Does not matter how careful I work with glitter, it is always all over the place {can not understand how so much are flying all over, when the bottle still seems to be at the mark where I started using}
ReplyDeleteWow that is absolutely FANTASTIC!!!! I would never have thought to use glitter - it turned out really well. Poor Julian...I can just picture the frantic vacuuming!
ReplyDeleteI don't mind having glitter all over. I mind people telling me it's on my face. Of course it is! What glue do you use to attach the bail? I think the granddaughters would like these, don't you?
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! I love the color glitter you chose for it too. Hope it cools down for you soon.
ReplyDeleteMel....this is so pretty...but you know I can't stand glitter! I started a project this weekend and gave up because of the glitterness!! I'm glad you make cool stuff with it though! What is dimensional magic?
ReplyDeleteMy husband loves glitter too! We have so much in common! I love it!

What's not to love- it's purple and it's sparkly! Perfect! I've never made jewelry, so I'm going to ask a dumb question. What kind of glue do you use to attach the bail?
ReplyDeleteI must say it looks beautiful! Good job Mel!
ReplyDeleteHigh five for greatness. :) I like this one a ton.

That is so cute and so so clever! Don't be surprised if I try one and link back to you. Love love!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great. I love the way the Mod Podge makes it looks so glossy on the top.
ReplyDeleteIt's so weird to hear you talk about the heat too.. We just got 3 inches of the heaviest/wettest snow I've ever seen last night. Now it a slushy mess around here and it's about to freeze again.. Much different from where you are!!
A cute idea! I like the idea of using girly glitter and a usually manly hardware washer! I love it!!
ReplyDeleteWhere have I been??? Ummm love these Melly, glitter - yes, pink - yes, I'm in!!!

ReplyDeleteCute! I love glitter too! Fortunately for me, my hubby doesn't mind it. However, my cousin has banned glitter from his home - even in the form of little sparkles on his daughter's clothes. Lol! Love live glitter!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! Doesn't even look like it was ever a washer.
ReplyDeleteSo cute--and it's easy too! My favorite combo!

I love this! I think I even like it better than the paper kind. I like the way the glitter covers the whole washer.
