Star Wars Cookie Jar, Or I'm About to Out My Dad

It was my Dad's birthday on the weekend and I wanted to write a post about what an awesome, loving, caring Dad he is with lots of heartfelt emotion, but I can't.

I could've written about how he is the best Granddad ever but I really can't write that either.

You see the reason I can't write that kind of post is, that while the above statements are true, I feel that I must out him for the super nerd/geek that he is! A Star Wars freak and worse still, from the minute my boys could talk he has slowly but surely brainwashed them into as well.

So earlier this year when he was so excited to have bought this T-shirt, in fact so excited in his geekiness that he told me about it FOUR times, before I saw him wearing it.

I was left with no other choice than to make him this Star Wars Cookie Jar using nothing more than my cutter, some vinyl, and a cookie jar.

DIY Delight or Disaster? Dad loved it, he burst out laughing as soon as he opened it and since I usually find him the hardest person to buy gifts for, I was thrilled to have given him something that he got a kick out of. Also he's keeping it in his office, that's like the fridge for adult arts and crafts (yeah I rocked it) so delight!

Happy 60th Birthday Dad, you're the best, even if you did turn my boys into Star Wars fans.

Thanks for reading,

Mel xo

  3. Loved reading this post, Mel... not because I'm a Star Wars fan. I'm not, but two of the males in the family are. How wonderful that your boys share something special with their Grandfather!!!

  18. Woohoo!!!!!! I'm a complete SW freak too. Hubby bought me 3 sets of SW cookie cut-outs (like I'm ever going to have an opportunity to use them properly). I've seen the original trilogy no fewer than 452 times. Okay, I made that number up, but it's probably actually pretty close. LOVE THIS!!!!

  19. This is brilliant, I'm afraid I am the person in our house responsible for getting the kids into Star Wars, but I'm not sorry, not even one little bit!
Every time I see a project like this I'm thinking I've got to get myself a cutter of some sort!

Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, between housework and 5 kids, this is the only thing I get out of bed for ;)
