Sesame Street Cans

It's Winter here, and while it's been pretty darn awesome we have had some wet days. I don't know about your kids but mine would much prefer to play with anything around the house...other than their toys. So as you know I am a bit of a hoarder and I had a pile of formula cans and thought I'd make them some stacking cans.

Lets make some!

Supplies:

Empty Cans
Spray paint
Pictures
Sticker maker (You can use modpodge but this thing is just so much easier!)
Sealer (optional but it gives it a bit of gloss and protects your picture)

Spray paint the cans.

Cut your pictures out, I just found random Sesame Street ones on the web.

Ran them through the sticker maker.  (click through to read more)

They come out looking like this.

Stick them on and coat with the sealer.

Then you can:
Stack them
Roll and chase them
Use them as stools
Or and most importantly, fight over one even though there are five more and one of those is exactly the same. As seen in the bottom right picture as Max attempts to pull it out from Madeleine.

DIY Delight or Disaster? Delight! The kids absolutely love these, it kept them entertained for hours on the grey old afternoon I gave them to the kids to play with.

Please no judging the housework it was late afternoon on a Sunday, no point vacuuming when the kids are all home that waits for Monday. Also Max needs a hair cut, I know it, my Mother pointed it out but I just don't want to part with those baby locks yet - Not cutting your kids hair because you want it, hoarding level 2!

Thanks for reading,

Mel xo

  1. How fun! I am a hoarder too. Never know what you might need, right? I have a ton of coffee cans that would be perfect for this!

I'd love for you to come share this at our Pinteresting Party! It kicks off every Saturday.

  4. I loved Sesame Street! My kids...not so much. It was the Barney era (gag). They barely remember SS or any of the characters. Makes me so sad. :(

Oh wait... I just re-read that comment and it looks like I said I didn't love my kids so much. I meant they didn't love SS so much. Bahahahaha!

  8. Your Sesame Street cans are adorable...but not as adorable as your kids!!! I miss little ones around. I will have to have a look at those sticker makers next time I am in town! You have such cool crafting tools.

  9. Delight! I love the idea of using what's in hand to entertain kids with and I must say I believe they are often more fun and inspirational than the purposefully built toys. I find it very exciting to see my children re-purposing things even if it may be only a very simple adjustment of an everyday item. By the way, I am a level 2 hoarder too with my 2 year old daughter's hair. Just like yourself, I too am scared that once cut, she will not have those gorgeous curls anymore.

  15. Oh my gosh, your little ones are cute cute cute. :)

I like the cans. And you have a sticker maker??? That could be oh so dangerous in this house (says the mom who just peeled stickers off of her son's bed, sigh). ;)

  16. What a clever mom you are! Had to smile at the can fight...even though there were two of the same! I want a sticker maker still!! As for Max's hair....my sister didn't cut her son's hair until he was 3!! He had long blonde curls and she just couldn't do it. Cried all day the day she did!

Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, between housework and 5 kids, this is the only thing I get out of bed for ;)
