In case you're wondering, we have been progressing in our lounge room makeover, remember what it looked like here.
Well we put up a false wall for the TV to be attached. and of course I painted the console
We also put up a wall and divided this large room in to two seperate rooms, lots of exciting things happening behind that wall!
I've pulled my old iron furniture out.
Random full shot of the wall.
Biggest news, we ripped up that old blue carper and painted the floors, oh I didn't even notice that I could see all the stuff outside, we removed the ratty old shutters and I am still deciding on what coverings I want. Of course it's the middle of Winter, no carpet, no heating and no windows, I truly pick the best times to do things (she says, as she bangs her head on that icy concrete floor)
One of these updates has caused tears and we can't agree on how to fix it. but on the whole happy so far. The thing that needs to be fixed has halted progress on the lounge and we also are having a new heater installed, I'd like to see where that goes before I start putting thing up so we are in wait mode again.
Funny thing about DIY, I always seem to be waiting for something, money, the right bargain, paint to dry, my head to explode!
Still what do you think so far?
Mel xo
Hehehe to your last sentence :-) By the way, in the second picture in this post, is your little one writing on the wall? Hope not :-) I love the updated corner with the bookcase in the lounge room and also how fresh it all looks now. DIY isn't the easiest thing to do but you have done a great job.
ReplyDeleteIf I'm seeing correctly - you have the TV now against one of the previous "side walls" ? Love the black of the TV with the white and red, because usually the all black of TV"s throws a color scheme, but in your case it looks great !
ReplyDeleteOh really fab Mel! Love the painted floor and the TV console looks great! Wonder what is going on behind that new wall???
ReplyDeleteI hate waiting too, hope the rest comes together soon for you. xx
You've been really busy and everything looks great! It's always good to make two rooms out of one especially when they're lots of space. Love the new floor and it seems like the possibilities are unlimited as to how you can now decorate. The wrought iron pieces sure do add a fabulous touch which I love!
ReplyDeleteI think you're brave to take on such big projects. Everything looks great that you've shown! Good luck getting your fix on the thing that's caused a challenge.
ReplyDeleteI love it Mel. You guys have done a lot of work already and it is definitely paying off. I can hardly wait to see the other side of the wall!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like it won't be long and you will be able to lounge in your lounge. Looks great!
ReplyDeleteYes, there is a lot of waiting in DIY. I think it's looking GREAT! I'm impressed with the walls. I love that you now have 2 separate living areas and can decorate each to suit the space. It really is looking great. Hope you get that heat up and running soon. Wish I could send you some of the steamy weather from here :)
ReplyDeleteEven though you have made the room smaller, it looks bigger without the blue carpet. You've done a great job of creating a room that looks functional and serene at the same time! Some projects do seem to go on forever and we do have to be patient until all the pieces come together. I've been doing my bedroom for months.
ReplyDeleteSo far, so great! I love it so much better, even if you are freezing. I mean, what's a little frost bite for a more gorgeous living space I say.
ReplyDeleteEverything is looking great. I love the floors!!
ReplyDeleteI keep losing my internet connection, so forgive me if you get multiple comments from me- ack! Anyway, your room looks wonderful- especially love the painted floors. Removing that blue carpet opens up so many decorating possibilities. The cool floor will feel good once summer hits! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's looking so good Mel! I love the white! You guys have done a lot! Hang in there, it'll be worth all the headache when it's done. Great job so far!
ReplyDeleteIt is so bright and airy in there now, Mel!! I had no idea you were putting up walls, wow, you guys have been busy! I love all the white space. It looks like you've gained tons of square footage. Diying sure can take some time, but in the end it's so worth it. Hope you all are keeping warm and cozy the best you can until that new heater goes in;)
ReplyDeleteThe room looks a lot more refreshing than before. Is there any reason why a flat screen TV can't be attached to the actual wall? Just wondering because I haven't had a TV for years and am considering getting one....
ReplyDeleteThanks Ordinary J, There is no reason normally but our support beams in the wall were not at the right height so we created a pop out wall to be able to place the screen where we wanted it to sit.My parents have three attached right onto their walls and they sit fine. Just check the stud placement as it needs to be screwed into a beam.
DeleteI love seeing how other people change their space - great job Mel! I love how you have defined the new space and also the change in direction by the placement of the TV. I always look at the delays as a perfect chance to 'change my mind', clarify my thoughts and start planning for the next job! lol
ReplyDeleteIt's looking really great Mel! It's amazing what a difference getting rid of that blue carpet makes. The room looks so fresh. I know what you mean about waiting. My bedroom makeover is taking forever, mostly because I have to work around furniture because we have no room to move everything out. It's such a pain. These days I know what a turtle feels like.
ReplyDeleteI love this Mel! You are one busy woman. It may be cold now...but think how cool it will be all summer! I agree about projects always waiting on something...so frustrating!
ReplyDeleteDo you have lounge pants to go with that lounge? I live in PJ/lounge pants these days. Yoga pants will do as well. :P
