The Great Wall of Storage

Without a doubt, the hardest thing about being a crafter/diyer/hoarder is having enough storage. So in my new craft room I knew without a doubt I had to have a lot of it.

In my old craft room, I loved the peg board door, so when we put up the wall dividing the lounge into two rooms, I told Julian on this side I wanted pegboard instead of wood panneling. Lucky for me, I recieved gift cards for the hardware store and it covered the price.

I wanted houndstooth but wasn't prepared to paint it. I had all that cheap vinyl that I got a couple of years ago. It's really see through and only good against a white background I started using my cutter to cut them out but found it was quicker to just draw the pattern and cut it out with scissors.

Here are my "helpers" Yes Max had just finished lunch which he wears so well over his face.

I didn't have enough of the one pink so I decide to go with two tones of pink. then the boxes from my old room on the floor. The tops looked terrible.

So I bought 10 wooden fence pailings at 90 cents each and made a wooden bench. It gave me more space and looks better.

So much storage and plenty of room for more....that grumble you just heard was Jules, apparently he doesn't think I need more supplies or tools.

DIY Delight or Disaster? Total delight, I love that all my sewing and dies for the bigshot are in reach and I can see them without having to dig through. Plus check out the mitred corners on that frame, I totally kicked mitre saw butt! This is awesome, delight!

Thread Holder

Well every sewer needs a place to store their threads, and what kind of blogger would I be if I didn't include some sort of monogram? So here it is!

Turn Your Door into a Peg Board

 Morning All,

How much do we as a craft/DIY /blogging community love peg board!

When I asked for ideas on what to do with the wall behind my craft table Anne from Domeblissity, suggested I do a peg board similar to Ros's from Sew Delicious which you can see here. Her's is wonderful and both Anne and I have been lucky enough to see it in person and I suggested that her FIL make me one.

Sadly for me he is busy!

At the beginning of this makeover I wanted to do something with the plain and ugly sliding doors so I started doing a paper "quilt, got to this point and decided I wasn't a fan, but since I had mod podged it on, I was to lazy hadn't got around to removing it.

The door slides right next to my table and I was thinking how great a peg board would be, when I wondered if I could do one on the door, turns out I could.

I bought a some peg board, which was way to wide for the door, and some really cheap pre primed trim so I cut the board to fit and painted the peg board white and the trim red.

Then I got some hooks and began sorting my crap!

DIY Delight or Disaster? Seriously LOVE this, so handy, if I was going to change anything I think I would have mitered the corners, rather than have them straight, otherwise, Delight!

Thanks Anne and Ros for the idea!

Craft Room Bench

Working on this craft room has been both fun and frustrating.

I want to have so many things but because of the awkward layout it's very hard to get some of them in.

Apart from the Houndstooth table which I craft on, I wanted a bench where I could spread stuff out and work, I don't like sitting for a lot of things.

All up this baby cost me $6.50!!!! The only thing I paid for was the Ikea shelves below. The cans are the good old trash chic, paper covered cans.

Then bench itself comes from the laundry, my poor little washing machine finally died and was replaced with a great big family of 7 super sized one but sadly it meant I had to remove the back board and bench. However I get more use in here so I am not crying too loudly.

And all those boxes with the canvas bags in them were free from my Mum when she upgraded her fabric storage...SCORE!!!!!!! I know I should have cleaned it more but hey it's a craft room, try as I might it aint never going to be spic and span, let's be honest perfect craft rooms don't exist outside Pinterest and Better Homes and Gardens!

DIY Delight or Disaster? It's perfect to work in the space is just awesome. Okay so it's not the perfect, cutesy look but it's a real working room and for me it's a total delight!

P.S. please don't mention the laundry, I may have cried and been more upset than this post alluded to, although the big washer has halved my work so win some/ lose some!
