Working on this craft room has been both fun and frustrating.
I want to have so many things but because of the awkward layout it's very hard to get some of them in.
Apart from the Houndstooth table which I craft on, I wanted a bench where I could spread stuff out and work, I don't like sitting for a lot of things.
All up this baby cost me $6.50!!!! The only thing I paid for was the Ikea shelves below. The cans are the good old trash chic, paper covered cans.
Then bench itself comes from the laundry, my poor little washing machine finally died and was replaced with a great big family of 7 super sized one but sadly it meant I had to remove the back board and bench. However I get more use in here so I am not crying too loudly.
And all those boxes with the canvas bags in them were free from my Mum when she upgraded her fabric storage...SCORE!!!!!!! I know I should have cleaned it more but hey it's a craft room, try as I might it aint never going to be spic and span, let's be honest perfect craft rooms don't exist outside Pinterest and Better Homes and Gardens!
DIY Delight or Disaster? It's perfect to work in the space is just awesome. Okay so it's not the perfect, cutesy look but it's a real working room and for me it's a total delight!
Thanks for reading,
Mel xo
P.S. please don't mention the laundry, I may have cried and been more upset than this post alluded to, although the big washer has halved my work so win some/ lose some!

Your craft room looks so tidy! You have a nice color scheme going there :-) I need all the inspiration I can get - haven't even started with my "new" craft room besides stuffing everything into the room and taking before photos..lol!
ReplyDeleteI desperately need some organization in our craft/sewing/office space. I get my exercise hopping over piles of stuff! :P
ReplyDeletelove the polka dots!

It looks great, Mel! What a fun space to work in.
ReplyDeleteI love the checkered shelves. Especially in contrast with the pink swirly cans. My husband would love it if I could clean up my craft room to look like this. Its a bit of an eye-sore right now.
ReplyDeleteYour craft room is looking really great Mel! I love the combo of the polka dots and swirlies with the checkerboard. I love that you reused your mum's boxes. Looks like you can store a ton of stuff in them. Fabulous!
ReplyDeleteYour craft room looks awesome, Mel!! That work bench is going to come in so handy, how I wish I had one!! Your design is so unique with the red and black, swirls, checks and polka dots - delight for sure!! You couldn't be more right about "how a real craft room" looks on any given day :)
ReplyDeleteI know I have said it before but I am well jealous of your craft room - love these posts! And more spice rack shelves, hooray! Yours look fab in polka dot and check. Sorry to hear about your old machine, hopefully the new one will give you some extra crafting time!

Looks great and functionality over 'prettiness' always wins. Mine is forever a mess. I look at some of those pinterest craft room pics and I wonder if craft ever happens in those ridiculous rooms!
ReplyDelete"...let's be honest perfect craft rooms don't exist outside Pinterest and Better Homes and Gardens!" hahaha.. Love it.
ReplyDeleteYou have done a great job with your craft room there. It is particularly beautiful and special because it is all your own work, not just bought and put together. Enjoy working on many great projects in it!
What a great space you have created and organized for your craft space. I love it. It's bright, colorful and ready to have beautiful things created in there.
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect little corner...................I'd be over the moon happy to have a designated space!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteXOXO
The bench looks great in the room, but more to the point, it's going to be a dream to do projects on! It would save my dining room table a lot of grief if I had one of those. Total score on the boxes from your mom!
ReplyDeleteMel, your craft room is quite enviable! Love the bench too!
ReplyDeleteYour craft room is wonderful Mel. So clean!! You will love "big load laundry" day. I really wished my Mom had one when we were little. I remember the mountain of laundry she had, mostly because we used to jump down the laundry chute onto the big pile...lol
ReplyDeleteI love it. Loving your colors and all the cute touches you've put in. I am with you, I stand A LOT when I craft. I could move my ironing board down so I just have to shift to iron, but I like to get up and move around.
ReplyDeletecute! I love the colors and the space looks super useable... Those black boxes are perfect for storing and hiding the things that are as pretty on shelves :o)
ReplyDeletehiding junk is always important!
DeleteWhat a treat to have a space like that for doing what you love!
ReplyDeleteSo organized and pretty and only $6.50!! Now that's a deal :)
ReplyDeleteMy husband created a space, in our garage, for my crafts. Right now, under the work table, is odd stuff. I want to switch the storage to the right so that I can utitilize the space under my craft table. It's been too hot to work in the garage so the area is just a pile of stuff. I'm going to pin your bench to show my husband. Thanks for sharing!
