Stain Glass Windows - Spring Butterflies

There comes a certain time of year where Pinterest bores me, seriously I get so bored I'd rather do the housework!!! Sadly for me that time has come and it's because all the feeds are clogged with Fall ideas, it's Spring here peeps and I want to celebrate the end of Winter and the warm weather.

So the little two and I decided to make stained glass window butterflies. This was a really fun thing to do, they loved it.

Supplies:
  • Ripped up pieces of Tissue Paper
  • Clear contact paper
  • Black Vinyl (or you could use paper)
  • Scissors

Cut a piece of contact paper and lay the tissue paper on top, Madeleine went for careful planning, Max dumped the entire bowl on his then just banged it about with his hands.

Then cover the top with another piece of contact paper.

Cut a butterfly, I used my cutter and vinyl but you could easily do this with paper and scissors if you don't have a cutter.

Stick the butterfly to the contact paper covered tissue paper and cut around the butterfly, Mum might need to help here if you are doing it with very young children.

Then stick them to the window. This tree is annoying and we cut it back regularly but with the butterflies it kind of looks like they are fluttering around it.

DIY Delight or Disaster?  The kids had a ball sticking the tissue paper on. It was so funny to see how different they were, Madeleine was being very methodical whereas Max just dumped it on. Delight, they really enjoyed making these.

This week at Inspiration Cafe, we have our Kidding Around series link party, so come and link up any kid related posts. They don't have to be new ones just make sure they are all about the kids. Just click the button and come on through.

  14. Haha I have a window cling post coming up but guess what... It's Fall lol.. I'd feel the same though. You're leaving your winter while we are entering ours. I totally agree with Amy Ellis though.. we will need some good summer inspiration from you when we are freezing our butts off here in the snow :)
