With the Craft Room finished and the boys room never going to be finished, (there are future plans making that pointless) I decided I just wanted something small to end the year. So I decided on the entryway.
Here it is at present, I will freely admit that I had done some major de-cluttering before I decided to do the room, so you are seeing it much cleaner than it normally is.
As you can see it's a little plain and boring, but I think we can jazz her up nicely. I do have one question to ask, paint the the doors and window or leave them alone? I have been tossing around the idea and have yet to decide what would be better.
Thanks for reading,
Mel xo
Depends on the color you want to paint the door, I think... Right now, it flows in with that {very, very nice!} rolltop desk. Wish I had a proper entry "room" - I might post about my self-constructed affair ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou know me Mel - I would paint lol. If you're painting the entry way white then I would do the wood white too - it will make it seem bigger.
ReplyDeletecant wait to see the after ;-)
I would paint the door white especially if you're going to have white walls. You can still keep the rolltop desk natural and if you want to add colour a rug, accessories etc. Love the wire sculptures :)
ReplyDeleteI vote for paint! These days I'm pretty much painting all wooden surfaces! I love some color!
ReplyDeleteI love the finish on the door and side window! Nice entryway appeal! That being said, don't know how much you plan on redecorating, but I would put in flooring to match the finishing and do a dramatic stenciling on a focal wall for a "wow" factor. However, you do what you feel you would be comfortable with. We can sometimes get carried away with suggestions.
ReplyDeletePaint the door!! Either a deep turquoise or a goldenrod!!! And if you do, you are my hero.
ReplyDeleteYour entry is so clutter free! Mine has lately become a dumping ground for everything. I tend to paint everything but it really is a personal choice. Your wooden door and window are gorgeous the way they are! A tough decision.
ReplyDeleteI think it depends on the color of the walls- will you be painting them? The wood is beautiful- it would be hard for me to paint, believe it or not. It would be an easy decision in my house because my doors are vinyl. Your roll top desk is very pretty and ties in nicely with the door and window.
ReplyDeleteWhat's in those frames, you tease?! :)
I agree with all your readers and paint the door. YOU wouldn't believe the impact a DOOR can have. And it makes you feel like you did something BIG LOL .. xoxox Hugs and you deserve to relax.
ReplyDeleteI love the blue glass details in the Window! That's really pretty. I guess every one is voting paint. . I think it'll look great no matter what you do but I personally like the natural wood look. But that's just me :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely space. It shod prove to be a fun and relatively quick update. I think the wood photographs well. How does it look in person? I'd maybe leave it for last??? I can't wait to see what you do!
ReplyDeleteI like wood over paint, but I am in the minority on that these days. :)
ReplyDeleteI paint everything Mel, so I would definitely paint the wood. The colour would depend on what you're doing with the walls. I think it would make that lovely glass in your window stand out a little more. Also if you painted the doors and window that awesome roll top desk with its wood finish would become more of a focal point. I guess it depends on what you want the focal point to be. Just my 2 cents worth. Whatever you decide I'm sure it will be awesome.
ReplyDeleteI think the painted door would look amazing! I can't wait to see what you do with your entryway. :)
ReplyDeleteI tend to like the timber look. Its always so hard to change it back once you've painted it. Up to you though. I do love a painted door.
ReplyDelete(didn't help much did I?) LOL

It looks like you have some arched entry ways, how nice.I also see some crown type molding around your ceiling that is white rather than wood tone. Some designers suggest wood trim should have wood doors and vice versa, but I'm no designer. I think your wood door is very pretty as is. May I suggest doing a search on pinterest or google images for entry way ideas and see if certain styles pop out at you? Either way, it will be fun to see how you transform the space. And yes, what are you hiding behind those frames?? :)
ReplyDeleteI'm usually all about the paint, but I'm also used to the wood being ugly and those are definitely NOT ugly doors! I think if it were me, I'd add some wide trim around the doors and paint all the trim bright white...but that's just me!
