Well every sewer needs a place to store their threads, and what kind of blogger would I be if I didn't include some sort of monogram? So here it is!
Supplies:
MDF
Jigsaw
Paint/brushes
Stickers
Sealer/Modpodge
Printer/paper

While Wearing Heels has mentioned a few times that she uses
block poster for enlarging pictures and I really wanted to give it a try, so glad I did I can see myself using that again in the future. Any way I made a huge M, cut it out and stuck it together
Traced it onto my wood
Cut it out and painted it white, then thought maybe had too many white things in the room, so I painted it black.
I stuck white dots, just the office type stickers on it, ran out and decided to use some red, read that as couldn't be bothered going back out. Turns out I liked it.
Hammered nails in at random.
Drilled it into my back board.
Then added my thread.
DIY Delight or Disaster? Apart from a few dodgy cuts with the jigsaw, I am delighted. I love have all the threads on display, with easy access. At first I really wasn't sure on the colour change with the dots but now I do like it, Delight! Also I think I need more practise with the jigsaw, it's not too bad but I can see the bits I had problems with.

ReplyDeleteWhat a terrific idea! You wouldn't believe what I keep my threads in . . . a plastic zip bag that some linen came in. Very handy to see and carry around! Ha!

ReplyDeleteVery cute, Mel. I am terrible with a jigsaw. Surprisingly, I do really well with a scroll saw. But, I sold mine years ago before one of our many moves- now I'm regretting it!
