Hot Chilli Woman

I have had that song stuck in my head from the moment I started preparing the chillies, (it's an old Noiseworks song, great Aussie band! Anyone else heard it?)

Anyway we have been having a lovely warm Winter I took a few happy snaps while I was out walking, and because of the warmer weather our chili plants have just gone wild!.

Far too many to eat fresh so I washed up the excess.

Chucked them in the dehydrator.

Turned it on for about 15 hours

Turned it off and I had crispy fresh dried, organically grown chilies.

Then realized I added an extra L in my picture...dang! Oh and I should have prettied up the jar but hey...I never said I was a "good" blogger!

I'll be sharing the one thing we do very well here at the mansion, over at the Inspiration Cafe, our veggie garden. So stay tuned for that one

Thanks for reading,

Mel xo

  1. How cool that you are able to grow those into winter. If I had my druthers, I'd grow as much of my own food as I can, not enough space in my place for that, but I can't wait to see your bloomin veg garden!!

  2. I'm going to try that. A friend just told me I could borrow her dehydrator and I have no idea how to use it. Of course, chilli peppers won't be ready for a couple of months here. That is what you call winter?

  8. Oh, I use dried all the time Mel. I just pop two whole in nearly all of my dishes. It adds a little heat without being too spicy for my son. I gave away my dehydrator because I wasn't getting the use out of it and it was just taking up room. I loved Noiseworks in their day. Saw them a couple times.

  9. I love that you can harvest chilis when it's winter! In our winter, it's normally so damp and cold that everything tucks into itself and waits for June.

Do you love your dehydrator? I'm considering one...

  12. Great harvest! I was thinking about getting a dehydrator. But in my case it would be for apples cause we have plenty of appletrees.
