So in love with this I could seriously gush and swoon...but I'm not really the swooning type.
So about a year ago I posted that I had thrifted this bread box, but I had actually bought it in November 2012 and it promptly went into the garage much to Julian's horror. He loves when I bring things home and store it in the garage (yeah right!)
Anyway, continuing my chalk paint love I decided that I needed to paint her up. After I finished painting, I knew I was terrified of trying a transfer methond didn't want a graphic but she did need something. Anyway I had these ruby coloured glass knobs and I thought that would give her the vintage glam look that I wanted.
I LOVE it. I love how the glass reflects against the white wood, way better than the original wooden knob. I just think she is so pretty now, in fact too pretty to put ion my kitchen and have the kids maul her so I think she's going to stay in my craft room as storage, then again I may change my mind.
DIY Delight or Disaster? Oh she has delighted me more than words can say. This I have decided, is the look I want, white lots of white, white, with a little wood, bling and glass. It only took me a year and a half of blogging to find out what I like and I'm loving it, we have been doing some serious DIYing in the house. Oh man how I do LOVE Autumn! I'm loving red as an accent colour but I also love that I can swap it out any time I like.
Thanks for reading,

That's awesome Mel!! I love the ruby handle too! Let me know when you try that transfer method...I'm perfectly happy for you to be my guinea pig on that one!!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving that white bread box, too, especially with the red glass knob! What a delight . . . for you! You have me thinking of trying to find some purple glass knobs. How cool would that be? Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThis is a fabulous look. Delight. Run with it!!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty. I love the fresh paint with the glitzy red knob. Gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteThat is crazy how adding that jewel knob takes the bread box to a whole different level.
ReplyDeleteLove it Mel! That red knob is just amazing and really gives the bread box a cool vintage feel. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI pick up all the ugly wood pieced that show up at my local thrift store. I'ts amazing how a little paint, some embellishment (yes, even transfers) and they become quite stunning. Well done! You even moved a piece out of the garage.
ReplyDeleteOh I love this vintage, a little bit country farmhouse style. Gorgeous! And, in your picture above, I thought it said vintage clam hehehe Helps when you look carefully.
ReplyDeleteGoing with the bejeweled knob was perfect. It's so unique, it's a Mel makeover if I've ever seen one and it couldn't be more perfect for your craft room. You can always salvage another, less glammy one for the kids to paw in the kitchen!
ReplyDeleteIt's a delight. And you keep throwing me off with your seasons being opposite mine. You'd think I'd get used to it. If course, winter here is NEVER going to end.

Love, love the breadbox, Mel ! And I threw mine {exactly the same as yours!} out and traded it in for a boring stainless steel breadbox :-(
ReplyDeleteYep, def. a keeper! I like the red knob too.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the red knob ( hate the word Knob - don't know why - but I hate that word LOL )
ReplyDeleteAnd it's perfect in white!
I'd like that to hide all my bills in the office !!!
xxx
I love how just a couple changes make such a huge difference! Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jeanie
DeleteDelight!! The red knob is the perfect accent Mel!
ReplyDeleteIt looks so pretty Mel! So much better than the boring brown. And the red knob makes it so much fun. LOVE!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful transformation. All these kitchen items finding a new purpose and potential home in your craft room...I hope it doesn't make you hungry :)
ReplyDeleteSuper cute! It's all about adding fun details!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cleaver and beautiful way to jazz up a plain bread box! I think I had that same box once upon a time! Should have kept that thing!
