Entry Dresser ... Oh What A Difference Some Paint Can Make

Hey Guys,

So I have been working on the entry and I have to say I am loving the direction it's heading. So far less than $100 which is quite amazing. What I have really discovered, which won't be a big surprise to most of you, is what a huge difference some paint can make!

This piece was ready to go to the tip it was in terrible shape, but I convinced Jules that I could paint it and it would be fine. He might have implied that he's heard that before and how many years will it be until it's painted.

The baskets were in great shape so I took them out and gave it a couple of coats of chalk paint.

Brought it in and waxed it, I read you have to wait 30 days for it to be properly cured. So under the punishment of death I told the children NOT to even breathe in the same direction as it.

There she sits in my almost finished entry and no jokes I am so in love with it. Seriously I blog and stuff, to keep the membership you never throw anything away, and I am thrilled that I didn't.

DIY Delight or Disaster? Come on, she's looking mighty fine!! Delight.

Have you saved anything recently from anyone you know lately?

Thanks for reading,

Mel xo

  2. Mel, Mel, Mel! This is a wonderful piece and I'm so glad you didn't get rid of it! Look at all of that awesome storage. Chalk paint is the most wonderful stuff and you've done a marvelous job using it to save this piece. Total delight! Can't wait to see your entry way in it's entirety.

  4. Excellent paintjob Mel. It looks so fresh and clean with it's new coat. I would love to try the real chalk paint, but I just can't bring myself to spend $50 on a quart of paint. Maybe I will get a quart of the white for my birthday! Hang on I just have to show this to my hubby..... okay! Done! BTW, he really likes your new storage unit too!

  5. Chalk paint is the cure all for both the novice and the professional refinisher. Your piece looks amazing and I keep telling myself I'll have to try it one day. I keep getting one step closer admiring what everyone else has done. It really does make a difference. I also like that you didn't put liners back in. Never thought how messy they can get without being tied down.

  6. When I get the paint bug I don't paint just one thing, so what else did you paint?

  8. Very pretty. I am going to break down and actually buy some chalk paint one of these days. Maybe when the husband is finished with school and I can make him help me.

  14. You rocked this one girl! Saved it from the landfill and saved yourself some money on a chic and ultra useful storage unit. Did you notice I did a very similar unit for my hall when I redid it? Definite delight!

  15. Very Fresh! Way to save a piece. I have a small buffet cabinet that is about to be relegated to entertainment center once I paint it. I hope to have fun with it too.
